- Yawn, I'm hungry! I know I'm going to eat one of my favorite foods, algae!
- Hi Rudy, I’m Pat the Painted Turtle! I’ve lived in this pond all of my life! Are you new here?
- Ah! Who are you?
- I’m Rudy, Rudy the Red Eared Slider.
- Well, I used to live in a tiny home with a little girl and her parents. They bought me to keep as a pet, but one day, after I grew much bigger, the girl said she didn’t want a turtle anymore and they dumped me right here in this pond. I guess this place will be my new home.
- Well, it’s nice to have a new friend but this pond is already my home and now it’s getting crowded. There’s the perfect amount of food and shelter for me and my family of Painted Turtles, but I don’t know if there’s enough for one more!
- Oh no! That’s not good! I would much rather be with my own turtle family, but I was taken from them years ago and brought to a strange store full of other animals before the little girl brought me home. Can you help me find my friends and family? I miss my home in the Midwest!
- The midwest? That’s far away! I wish I could help, but I think you might be stuck here in this pond. Sadly, you are hurting my friends and family by taking over our land. This pond is my native habitat, but with other species being brought into the area, my life becomes very hard.
- Oh no! What’s going to happen to me?
