- Slavery is an abomination, and should not allowed to be spread. While the Supreme Court upheld it in Dred Scott, we have been able to provide compromises to stop its spread, through constitutional means. The idea of secession is preposterous and obviousl not a majority opinion but that of a small meddlesome few. It is a rebellion and Article I gives us the power to quell it!!
- I'm a slave, a person who is considered property. I don't even have Constitutional rights! Why not???
- Abraham Lincoln was elected by the electoral college without even being on our ballots!!! How can this be? Who represents us? Amendment X gives the States the rights not exclusively given to the federal government in the Constitution. Secession is our right!!
- People have fought and died. There needs to be a reason. Slavery should no longer exist! Time for an amendment! #13!!

- I understand. We lost the war and will lose our slaves. I don't see why we need to lose our property, but the victors are demanding it . . .
- Why aren't the former Confederates learning? They are adopting Black Codes, blocking people's rights to vote. They are even electing former Confederate leaders!! And, Johnson is so frustrating, he ha a problem with military districts! Well, we can impeach him and get another amendment to force the South to comply.
- When will people see me as a person? When will I be able to fully take part in this country? I support the 14th Amendment and appreciate what the Radical Republicans are trying to do. I need an education and protection
- Another amendment to punish us and to give our former slaves - our former PROPERTY - rights and we are forced to adopt it. Will this punishment never end?
- The Freedmen are still not allowed to vote in the South! This is outrageous!! Let us ratify the 15th Amendment to make certain they can!!
- Whatever happened to the State's rights to make these decisions???
