- Overall level of world problems awareness in the Global South- Lack of environmental/conservation education-Perception of local communities in S-E Asia on wildlife
Incidents/ places/ people that were relevant to those issues
- During my stays in S-E Asia I was paralyzed by the notions of the local people towards the environment and wildlife- I was shocked by the level of education when I visited schools in the region-The perception of local people have huge impact on the perseverance of wildlife
Significant trips, volunteer experiences, or jobs where your view of the world changed
-2011 was the year when I become aware such problems could exists, and it was on one course on my Erasmus exchange in Denmark
People you admire or who changed your views
- My research assistants in Vietnam asked me why have I come, because these monkey I study are not important- Children at Vietnamese school told me the monieys should be killed because they are aggressive-Local communities in the Philippines agreed with eradicating wildlife because they destroy their income
But they are! They help maintaining the forest!
You should do something else than observing them, it is not important
