- Melting ice caps is a huge problem and it's mainly our fault. The biggest problem is the burning of fossil fuels. The heat gets trapped in the atmosphere and absorbed by the ocean.
- These melting ice caps are causing water levels to rise and for tropical storms to become more intense. This is not only causing homes to be destroyed but animal habitats to get wiped out.
- It's also leading to less and less ice each year which can effect tundra animal because that ice is essential to how they hunt.
- Urban cities like this one release a lot of carbon into the air. this causes oceans to heat up leading to further melting and underwater habitats being destroyed.
- When oceans heat up, coral tends to die, leaving fish out in the open with no food source. coral doesn't regrow quickly so it's important to preserve them.
- Solutions to the melting of ice caps are: switching to renewable resources, building a dam in front of the jobshare glacier to stop warm water from reaching it and stopping deforestation so more CO2 can be taken from the atmosphere.
