  • People gather or congregate in a Church (a catholic building made to worship God consisting of a tabernacle - table for the Priest, cross - a symbol of Jesus, and pews - where the congregation sits). These people could be; Priests (who runs the Mass), Acolytes (who assist the Priest), Special Ministers (who help give out the Eucharist), People (who come to Mass), and, Readers (who read bible references to the people). After greeting everyone, the Priest starts the Mass. The Priest, or Father, says "we gather today in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit."
  • 4. Liturgy of the Eucharist/Communion Rite
  • Amen.
  • Congregation
  • The body of Christ
  • The Introductory Rite can be broken into three parts; The Entrance Chant, Greeting, and Penitential Rite. The Entrance Chant is when people gather or congregate. After the Entrance Chant, the Greeting is when people say good morning and hello. Then, Finally, the Penitential Rite is when people confess to sinfulness. This is done to remember our failures and to prepare for the sacred mystery's.
  • 5. Concluding Rite
  • Now go and glorify the Lord by your life. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
  • Next, is the Liturgy of the Word, which can also be broken into three main parts; the First Reading, Responsorial Psalm, and the Second Reading. The First Reading is usually from the Old Testament where everyone listens to the word of God. Then, the Responsorial Psalm is where the congregation respond to the Lord's Word in song. Finally, the Second Reading is where everyone listens to the Word of God in the New Testament.
  • 6. Spread the Word
  • How can I help you?
  • The Liturgy of the Eucharist/Communion Rite is the main part of the Mass. It starts off with the preparation and presentation of gifts. These gifts are the bread and wine and are taken to the altar before the Priest. Then, the Eucharistic Prayer, a prayer of thanksgiving, is said. Everyone then says the Lord's Prayer, the 'Our Father', and offers each other the sign of peace by shaking hands or acknowledging one another. Everyone then says the 'Lamb of God' prayer which signifies praying for forgiveness, mercy, and peace.
  • The Concluding Rite can be broken into three parts; the Greeting, the Final Blessing, and the Dismissal. The Greeting is sort of the Masses final goodbye and it is where the Priest unites us with Christ. The Final Blessing is the last blessing given by the Priest to the congregation, and, the Dismissal is when the Priest encourages us to follow God and strengthen our relationship with him.
  • After Concluding Rite, the priest blesses the congregation (the people gathered), and sends them away to spread the Word of God and put it into practice in their daily lives.
