  • African Americans have contributed to many aspects of life. Today many African American pioneers are not recognized for their achievements. We will explore the achievements of two similar African American engineers.
  • Let's go back in time to visit Mark Dean and Roy Clay, African American Computer Scientists.
  • -Computer Scientist/Engineer-Co-Created the fist personal IBM Computer-Created the ISA bus, which transfers data

  • -Helped HP develop their first computer-Founded Rod-L Electronics -He got inducted to the Silicon Valley Engineering Council’s Hall of Fame in 2003
  • Similarities:• Both men worked in computer science• Both are black pioneers• Both invented things we use in our everyday life, computers!
  • Whoah, time travel and narration. Sorry for my disturbing appearance, it's an unfortunate side effect of being a narrator. Anyways, let's look at how these two men are related.
  • If someone is blocking your ideas and advancement, find a different way to expose your proposals, innovations and request... To break through, you often have to be better than the rest.
  • Mark Dean and Roy Clay both needed to show that anyone could do what they needed if they put in the work - and they needed to expose their work to the world. The last part of the quote can mean that to break through, you need to improve on other's work to make something even better than their work.
  • Mark Dean built computers, and developed essential computer parts. Roy Clay worked in the same area also building computers and starting companies, though these achievements were years before Mark Dean’s career. Roy Clay’s achievements started a path for many others, including Mark Dean.
