- Cool pocket knife... I want it!
- Cal and his father, Pop, live by the hobo code and make sure to take care of each other on the road., no matter what challenges they face.
- Climax
- Oh no! I have to go save Pop!
- Cal discovers that he is Creek Indian and must go to Challagi, an Indian school, while Pop goes to Washington to collect his bonus money for being a veteran. Cal is nervous and doesn't know how long he'll be there.
- Falling Action
- I've missed you so much!
- I came to save you, Pop!
- Cal faces new challenges at Challagi like having his hair chopped off and making new friends. In one scene, Cal meets a new friend and must earn his place with a gang. He fights the head of the gang for his pocket knife but shows true loyalty when he lies about what happened to keep his new friends out of trouble.
- Resolution
- Are you ready?
- You could say that.
- During the summer, Cal is still in Challagi but has a dream about Pop getting shot fighting for his bonus money and knows that if he doesn't do anything about it, it might come true. He gets help and advice from his friends that now feel like brothers, and manages to escape the school.
- Cal has a long journey to arrive to Pop and meets new people along the way. When he arrives, there is war going on but Pop and Cal manage to escape with his army of veterans. They help each other any way possible and Cal has stopped his dream from becoming reality.
- Cal knows what he has to do to help Pop fight and earn his bonus money to buy themselves a farm. So, Cal volunteers to head back to Challagi and stay there until Pop has reached his goal.
