Romulus and Remus Story

- Romulus and Remus were born of Rhea Silvia, but the father was undetermined, it could either be Hercules or Mars. She was sent to prison, because she broke her vowels of celibacy. The twins were sent to be buried alive, but instead were sent to die by the elements. The servant that was supposed to kill them took mercy and sent them down the Timber river in a basket.
- The river led them to an inlet where a wolf found them and suckled them. They were later discovered by a shepherd who took them back to his home and gave them to him wife.
- The two boys were brought up to be strong healthy men but one day they ran into King Amulius's shepherds and they began to fight. King Amulius's shepherds captured them to be punished.
- The boys were captured by the King but were not recognized. Romulus ended up freeing his brother and killing the King. They went on to reject the crown and went to build a new city.
- Romulus and Remus began to quarrel about where to begin their new city. Romulus wanted it on Palatine Hill, while Remus wanted it on the Aventine Hill. They tried to solve it but fought over that, so Romulus began building trenches and walls around Palatine Hill. Remus mocked Romulus, so Romulus killed Remus.
