- In Canada, child poverty is one of the more bigger issues for children. In 1989, H.O.C. passed a resolution to attempt on achieving a goal on eliminating poverty among Canadian children by the year 2000. Since then 20+ years have passed and by the year 2007 came around, 1 in 10 children were living in poverty. Also, in the 18th century children did not have rights. Not having these rights left them defenseless, which is why we needed change and that children needed to be given rights.

- Children rights and shelter for children are very important because without its very difficult for them to survive. Children must be able to depend on the adult world to look after, to protect, and to take care of them. That is why we need to implement rights to children. Children need these rights to be able to feel protected by others and to be able to feel safe
- Aftermath
- In 1989, several organizations and world leaders came together to work on completing an international agreement creating The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. This became the first international agreement that would protect children including children's civil rights and political rights, these rights would soon to be added onto other count ties.

- After great success on implementing Child Rights throughout many countries, On December 13 1991, Canada took in and ratified the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
- This International agreement has became one of the most approved human rights treaty in our history and changed many lives globally. Also, there has been a significant number of changes that would rise children's rights to be protected and many more life affecting changing that would benefit them. Even though, this doesn't cover and protect every child in the world this still does cut the number short of the child's that weren't protected before the international agreement. Then, there is Child Poverty another issue that we have that needs to be addressed. There needs to be more attention to Child poverty so that those children can be given a childhood like the most of us.
- I care about the decisions that are made to children rights and everything because how I see it, children is the future and if we want to live in the future we should be able to live in a safe environment. The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child is very valuable to me and to other children as it makes us feel safer and protected. I still think that there are changes to be made on child poverty because when I was researching about child poverty it was mainly talking about the poverty rates and not any to movement in the situation. It questions me, why I wasn't really able to find any relevant information to any changes on Child Poverty
