- It is a hot dry wasteland. Stanley Yelnats being the main character. He is going to a detention camp for bad boys. He came here because he "stole" some shoes from a baseball player. He came here to dig holes. He is digging to "Build Character" in a desert in Texas
- Rising Action
- One day Stanley found something and it was a fish fossil. He showed it to Mr. Pendanski to see if he could get the day off but the Warden did not like it. X-Ray came over and said that if STanley found something it went to him. So, one day he found a lipstick tube. Stanley gave it to X-ray and he got the day off but the only problem was is now they are digging in the wrong area
- Climax
- Mr. Pendanski is always calling Zero dumb and stupid and Zero has had enough he wacks Mr. Pendanski in the face with a shovel and runs. A couple of days later Stanley runs away to try to find Zero and they find each other
- Falling Action/Resolution
- They get to Big Thumb and start the climb. When they get to the top they find water from the storm that happened. Then they find the bushes and Stanley pulls one and there is a onion which they live off for the next couple of days. Then they head back to camp to try and find the treasure.
- They return to Camp Green to try to find the treasure and when they do the Warden finds them and they get caught and get surrounded by yellow spotted lizard. While they are in the hole Stanley's lawyer comes.
- They get free from the lizards and Stanley's lawyer comes to set them free. When they get home they open the chest and they get stacked with loot and Zero gets half and he was homeless and his mom left so he uses his money to find his Mom and he does.
