- Della, counted every cent and dollar they had in their house. She had $1.80 dollars she was devastated she was so sad. But she still needed to give Jim a present.

- A couple hours later Della decided she was going to sell her hair. After she sold her hair she received $20 dollars. Della was so happy she could finally afford a present for Jim
