FAVORITE QUOTE from A NIGHT DIVIDED
Gerta doesn't trust Officer Muller for good reason. He threatened her just for looking at the Berlin Wall and he also uncovered her and Fritz's secret tunnel and nearly turned them in. However, in the end, Officer Muller sacrifices himself to save Gerta. He tries to get his wife and baby to freedom in the West but tragically doesn't make it there himself, paying the ultimate price. It demonstrates how the repressive regime of East Germany turned neighbors and friends against one another. It further shows one's capacity to change for good.
"I was wrong about him." That was all I could say, and it didn't seem like nearly enough.
