- In my city's school district all fourth grade students go on a field trip to the Columbia Memorial Space Center. Downey was a huge part in the Project Apollo Spacecraft Development Program. Students learn about the Apollo 1 testing facilitating and their city's influence on the first journey to the moon.
- My Career Change
- In high school I loved animals and Biology, so I took an anatomy class to learn more about the human body. At the time I was debating studying to be a nurse or a veterinarian.
- During hallway into the semester I realized that I was struggling in my anatomy class. I went to tutoring and my teacher's office hours, but I couldn't keep up with the class's pace. Once I understood a lesson, I was behind 2 or 3 lessons. The class was taught exactly like how the textbook was written with 2 quizzes every week and 1 exam every 3 weeks.
- After having a terrible experience in my anatomy class, I took some time to reflect over how I was learning content. I realized that the class I was taking wasn't a fun learning environment. I wanted to change the environment of learning science and other tough subjects like math, so I decided to study liberal studies so I could learn how to create a fun learning environment for students.
