- Captain Walton meets a strange man named Victor Frankenstein and listens to his story. A story that shows that scientific discovery isn’t worth sacrificing your own life for.

- In Geneva, Victor grew up in a well off family and attended a famous university in Ingolstadt where he learned about modern science.
- Fascinated with the “secret of life”, Victor discoveres how to create life. Using body parts from a graveyard, he brings a hideous monster to life. Only to run away from his creation out of fear and disgust, leaving the monster to fend for himself.
- With no guidance from his creator and the mistreatment he faces from others, the monster is filled with rage and seeks revenge on Victor for abandoning him. The monster begins to kill off Victor's family one by one, lastly killing his wife.
- Even as he watches the effects of his creative act spiral out of control, Victor refuses to acknowledge the horror of what he has produced, torn as he is by regret, humiliation, and guilt.
- Victor's fate is sealed by his lack of humanity. In the end, he isolates himself from the outside world and devotes himself totally to an animalistic fixation on exacting revenge on the monster. The protagonist develops an obsession with destroying the results of his conceited scientific attempt.
