  • Theodore Roosevelt was born in the year 1858 on October 27 in New York. His family was wealthy but as a boy Teddy was weak and sickly but overcame the odds by increasing his strength with exercises such as gymnastics and weightlifting. he would go on to graduate from Harvard.
  • When the Spanish-American war occurred Roosevelt became a colonel of the first U.S. volunteer Calvary and would be known as the Rough Riders. He would be the one to lead a charge up a hill in the battle of San Juan. This would cement him as a American Hero.
  • Roosevelt was the Republican vice-president who came into office after President William McKinley was assassinated on September 6, 1901. Roosevelt was the 26th president at age 42 making him the youngest president in American history. He believed that America should be responsible as a world power or "Speak softly and carry a big stick"
  • In a Famous story about Roosevelt where he refuses to shoot a bear cub can be used to demonstrate his conservationist values. Roosevelt cared deeply about the environment made 200 million acres into national forests and wildlife refuge while he was president.
  • Roosevelt's presidency lasted a second term and he left office in 1909. Roosevelt had many achievements throughout his life but the one he claims is his crowning achievement was helping Panama secede from Columbia which would lead to the construction of Panama Canal. He also was the individual who was in charge of negotiations that ended the Russo-Japanese war for this he was awarded a Nobel Prize.
  • Theodore Roosevelt died January 6,1919 at the age of 60 from a Pulmonary embolism. He would be remembered as a influential figure of the conservationist movement to protect the forests and wildlife of America. His time as the 26th President of the united states is still remembered today and continues to impact America.
