  • in "The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street" by "Rod Sterling" one of the themes is violence doesn't solve problems. One reason I think this is the theme is because Steve kept getting mad at Charlie for being unreasonable and he lost his temper very easily. He kept making rude comments and raising his voice at Charlie. He was so focused on Charlie that he wasn't trying to figure out what was happening on Maple Street. For example, Steve said, "you could just quit strutting around like self-appointed hand judge and just climb into bed and forget it."Another reason is because Charlie kept annoying Steve and then he became angry with Charlie. For example, Steve said, "Charlie stop telling me what I can't afford!" One last reason is because Charlie kept being unreasonable with Steve and blamed the Tommy for being the monster. Then everyone disagreed with him and he became angry. In conclusion these three reasons are why I think the theme of the story is "violence doesn't solve problems." thank you for listening.
