- Ivan and Stella live in a mall with Mack, their master. They perform in a small, stationary circus where Ivan believes that he has a good life.
- COME TO THE EXIT 8 BIG TOP MALL AND VIDEO ARCADE HOME TO THE ONE AND ONLY IVAN MIGHTY SILVER BACK!
- The mall is going to go bankrupt so Mack comes up with plans to make more money. He sells Ivan’s drawings, but that isn’t enough.
- Zoo
- Mack orders another elephant: a baby named Ruby. Stella and Ruby make a connection, but then Stella dies. Ivan promises Stella that he will free Ruby.
- Ivan realizes that he can paint the word HOME. He paints a new billboard to go over the old billboard and Julia recognizes what Ivan was trying to say to her.
- Protesters come to try to free Ruby and Ivan. Ivan realizes that he has been in captivity and now thinks that his life would be better in the zoo.
- Ivan initially feels that he will never be part of the gorilla troop inside the zoo, but as he slowly gets exposed to them, he starts to fit in and be accepted.
