- In order to run, you must be at least 30 years old and you must be a citizen of the US. You will need to file a new political party petition there will have to be at least 42,506 signatures. Lastly, you will need to be ready to work with many people and parties. You will need to know why you are running, how you will help your state, work hard, socialize with other people, be patient, and motivate your supporters. You will also need to be a good listener and organizer, and surround yourself with good people. I hope this gives you a general idea of how to run for governor in the State of Michigan
