  • Impressment process- the enforce of military or naval service on strong bodies but unwiling men through violent methods. It means the seizing for public use or the impressing into public service.
  • 4. Battle of Horseshoe Bend (Alabama (MS Territory))
  • America wanted to expand their territory and British restrictions were effecting us from doing that so we wanted to go to war. War hawks are people that really favor war. And they continue to keep a conflict with someone so that they can go to war.
  • 5. Burning of Washington D.C 
  • Although both sides suffered many loses, this was considered a win for the U.S. William Henry Harrison, the person who led the Battle, now had a good reputation in the U.S. . He even used the slogan "Tippencanoe and Tyler, Too!", in the 1840 election.
  • 6. End of the war... but fighting continues in New Orleans
  • It was another U.S. victory over the Native Americans that were opposed to white expansion in the territories.This helped end the Creek war.
  • The British burned down Washington D.C. to retaliate against the Americans after they burned down York, Canada. They picked Washington to burn down because it was an easy target because of the inexperienced troops there, also the easy sea access. Lastly, they chose Washington because it was a symbolic and important place for Americans.
  • The Treaty of Ghent was signed in 1814 to end the War of 1812, that was fought against Great Britain and America. After the war was done there was another battle called the Battle of New Orleans. Andrew Jackson led this war. The U.S. won, and this was the last major war of the War of 1812.
