- The giver begins in a utopian society where a young boy named Jonas lived; he is 11 and is going to be assigned his job soon
- Jonas is about to turn 12 and the elders are about to assign him his job. Jonas is over thinking about what he will be assigned.
- The cheif elder is giving all the 11's there job but as Jonas number is up he is skipped. until they call Jonas last and he is the new Reciever
- Jonas has been training as the new receiver. he asked to see how they release people only to find out its murder
- Jonas later finds out that Gabe is soon to be released . so Jonas escapes to save the community and Gabe but is followed by Asher.
- Jonas and Gabe have finally reached the house the giver had on the map. Jonas had finally released the memories of pain and happiness and more.
