- In the 1760’s, things were going well between the British and American colonists.
- No taxation without representation
- “No man shall be taxed but with his own consent”-B.W.
- But then the KING decided he wanted to be more involved with the colonist's lives.
- We need to stand up for ourselves.
- So, the KING enforced the Stamp Act, which taxed the American colonists on every important document.

- The colonists started protesting against the KING because they didn't like not having representation in British parliament.
- The colonists held a meeting called The Stamp Act Congress. They passed The Stamp Act Resolves, which stated that the colonies must have representation in British parliament in order to be taxed.
- Still, nothing changed, so the American colonists stopped buying goods from the British merchants. This put pressure on Britain to repeal the Stamp Act. The Stamp Act was cancelled in March of 1766.
