- The palm-to-palm scene in "The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet" by William Shakespeare shows how Romeo and Juliet's relationship starts and how they love each other from the beginning. This scene is a perfect example of a pivotal scene because it shows character and relationship development, as Romeo evolves from someone who has no love to give and is out of love, to someone who is in love despite their differences.In Act One Scene Five, Romeo meets Juliet for the first time and instantly falls in love with her. Lines that show that Romeo instantly fell in love with Juliet are lines 43-52 where Romeo describes how Juliet looks and how he thinks she is beautiful (O, she doth teach the torches to burn bright! It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night as a rich jewel in an Ethiop’s ear—Beauty too rich for use, for Earth too dear. So shows a snowy dove trooping with crows as yonder lady o’er her fellows shows. The measure done, I’ll watch her place of stand and, touching hers, make blessèd my rude hand.
