- Preface to the story, Fahrenheit 451, By Ray Bradbury. firemen don't put out fires anymore. Firemen now burn all books. Water hoses now spit out kerosene and books are illegal. It takes place sometime after 1990.
- This is the main character, Guy Montag. He is a fireman, unhappy guy. Burns books for a living, and has a wife that is consumed by modern entertainment. His main hobbies, burning books and having an existential crisis.
- Now, lets get into one of my favorite scenes in the book: he fire alarm had sounded. There were reports of books in the town. Montag, Stoneman, Black, and Beatty rush out of the fire station and drive off.
- They arrived at the house and burst the door down. It was a house in the ancient part of town only held together by the thin fireproof sheath all houses got a few years ago. They yell at the girl in there and ask her where the books are. Suddenly, book came flying from the ceiling.
- They start pouring the kerosene all of the pile of books. Beatty yells out to Guy Montag to stop being an idiot and get out of there. He starts counting down, "5, 4, 3, 2....." The woman suddenly says, "you can stop counting." She is holding a match.
- Guy Montag leaves the building while trying to tell the woman to leave. She strikes the match and the entire room is filled with flames. Montag stared at the liveless burning corpse of the woman as she stared back at him. The men went back to the firehouse in silence.
