  • Hi Seb, I've recently seen something about setting healthy goals, Since you're older than me do you know what that means?
  • Oh hey Eddie, Of course I can teach you about Setting Healthy goals, I usually make a lot of goals, I can tell you some examples
  • Ok, so Eddie, Let's start with "Why are goals Important": Goals are important because as you achieve more goals you're going to feel more confident about yourself and you're going to improve your self esteem which is the way you value yourself. think about it this way: imagine that you really want a trophy for track and field, but you dont think your capable of doing it. Well imagine that after 3 months you've already achieved 2 trophies, so you'd feel like you can get more and that your capable. so in conclusion you feel more confident about yourself
  • Yes, I did what I thought I couldn't do, now I feel like I can get 100 more!
  • Ok, now lets go over "Examining your values": this time you have to think well about your personality and your values and see if they match your goal and if it's what you really want. For example, imagine that you want to be friends with the popular cool kids, but the thing is that the popular kids usually joke with curse words and can sometimes be very mean and can get in deep trouble, so you realize you dont want to become like them or be their friends because they're very different from you and dont match your values, so you decide that you wont do that goal
  • They are way too rude!
  • Ha Ha Ha Ha!, you got a 2 in Science, you're stupid bro!
  • We did it!, we got a 4, i'm so happy!
  • Next Eddie is "Goals build healthy relationships" what that is, is that some goals you might have to solve with someone else, and what's good about solving goals with someone else is that you will make the relationship with that person stronger. For example imagine you are partner with a not so close friend and you both agree to try your best on a Science project and get a 4. Eventually you and your partner get a 4 and the relationship with that person gets stronger
  • yes Eddie, we did it, let's be partners again next time, I have a feeling we're gonna get a 4 again
  • Lastly is "Learning from mistakes" and that is that, Sometimes Eddie, Goals aren't so easy to achieve and sometimes you might fail in reaching your goal, but you should be persistent and stick with your goal and try again. For example imagine that you got a 2.7 in Dr.Connors class but you were aiming for a 4, remember that goals aren't always easy so you must try again another time and reach your goal and achieve it by remembering from mistakes and to not do them again
  • Next time, ill try harder and I'll get a better grade!
  • Noooo! I got a very bad grade in Class. I wanted a better grade!
  • Oh, Ok. Thanks for teaching me Seb, I think I get it now, I know I might be asking too much but can you teach me a little about communication and listening skills?
  • No problem Eddie, we've been doing good communication skills throughout the conversation, and good listening skills are to: nod at someone while that person is speaking and another skill is to look at her/his eyes
