  • The first Crusade (1095 - 1099) Pope Urban encouraged to take back the Holy Lands (Jerusalem), as the Christian Community was divided. People who partook in the Crusades and died would immediately go to heaven. This Crusade was successful in taking the land from Jerusalem.
  • The Second Crusade (1147-1149) Specifically the city of Edessa was captured by the Turks, and the population entered an age of slavery. The crusade was launched, but quickly failed. There was approxiamately 30,000 deaths for the crusaders, while the Muslims only 10,000
  • The Third Crusade (1187-1192)Saladin in 1187 captured the city of Jerusalem from the Christians, and a third Crusade was launched as a respone to this. King Richard, King Philip Augustus and Emperor Barbarossa lead the army, as they captured Cyprus, Tiberias and other lands, but in the end fail to capture Jerusalem.
  • The Fourth Crusade (1202-1204) This was started by Pope Innocent III, and took the land of Constantinopole in 1203, not Jerusalem. Shortly in 1204, Constantinopole was quickly seized, and Murzuplus named himself Alexius V, after the previous ruler Alexius VI. Being robbed of this land after a year, they retook it and plundered the land.
  • The Children's Crusade 1212Inspired from crusades in the past, a french kid named Stephen of Cloyes and Nicholas gathered tens of thousands of children to the Holy Land. Unprepared and unexperienced, they marched with determination. This did not go well, as many of them weren't seen again and likely sold to slavery.
  • The Final Crusade 1270This was the final 8th crusade, and the last 5 have not beem successful. This crusade was lead by Louis XI from France, and was targetted against the Hasfid Dynasty. This did not go well either and the army withdrew at Tunisia. In total, the Crusades cause 2-6 million deaths, and caused destruction and chaos.
