- "I'll bet that the poor and intelligent stranger will live for thirty days with the 1,000,000 pounds banknote."
- You are an intelligent and honest man, You are also poor and a stranger. In this envelope you wil fin some money. It is yours only for 30 days. At the end of 30 days, return to this house. I have a bet on you. If I win this bet, you can have any job with any salary that you want.
- Henry arrived to London alone and without even a cent. When suddenly two rich men invited him to their house and explained him that they had a bet. So they gave him the 1,000,000 pounds banknote and told him that they would return in a month to see what had happened.
- When he left the house he saw this letter with the notebank, from the man that bet he would not go to prison. The letter said that if he won the bet he would give Henry any job he wanted.
- Henry bought everything he wanted without money! He just had to order whatever he wanted to buy and when was time to pay he just showed the 1,000,000 pounds banknote and asked for change, and everytime was the same, no one had change. But he planned to return every cent of what he bought with his new job at the end of the month.
- That banknote gave him fame too, enough to met the American Ambasssador, who invited him to a dinner-party. At the party Henry met a beautiful girl, Portia, and immediatly they both fell in love. Henry even told her all the true 1,000,000 pounds banknote history.
- At the dinner-party Henry met an old friend, Hastings. Hastings explained to him that he needed to sell the shares of the mine but he couldn't, so he asked him for help. Henry suddenly had an idea, Hastings could use his famous name to sell the shares for 3 million dollars, and then they would share the money half to half.
- When was finally the end of the month, Henry went to met the two gentlemen with Portia. She kissed one of the men and called him "Papa", he was her step-father. So as he already had money, he just wanted and got one job, the one of son-in-law.
