- Today we will be exploring the 4 layers of the atmosphere!
- The troposphere is the Earth's atmosphere's lowest layer. The troposphere contains the majority of the atmosphere's mass (about 75-80 percent). The troposphere is home to the majority of clouds, and it is also where practically all weather happens. The troposphere's lowest point is at the Earth's surface.
- The stratosphere is a layer of the atmosphere that surrounds the Earth. As you ascend, you'll reach the second layer of the atmosphere. At moderate latitudes, the bottom of the stratosphere is roughly 10 km (6.2 miles or 33,000 feet) above the ground. At an altitude of 50 kilometers, the stratosphere reaches its highest point (31 miles).
- The mesosphere is a layer of the atmosphere that surrounds the Earth. The mesosphere is located between the stratosphere and the thermosphere. It reaches a height of 50 to 85 kilometers (31 to 53 miles) above our earth. Throughout the mesosphere, temperature falls with altitude. In the mesosphere, the majority of meteors evaporate.
