- Maddy and Olly message late at night and keep each other company as they share about their day and continue to get closer to one and other. As this process continues on every nights, Maddy desires to meet him in person, but knows it's too dangerous because of her disease, SCID, which puts her at high risk when exposed to the outside world.

- The Next Morning...
- As Maddy continues to ponder about meeting Olly face to face, she impulsively asks her nurse, Carla, for permission after the two women have a conversation about the boy. Unfortunately, Carla does not believe that this is a good idea and Maddy is stuck with looking at Olly through her bedroom window.
- "MAYBE HE COULD come over for a visit?" (Page 71)
- "Teenagers are the same all over, give them an inch and they'll take a mile." (Page 71)
- The Next Day...
- The thought of Olly remains on Maddy's mind and the next day, Maddy asks Carla for Olly to visit. However, Carla understands that it is her duty to keep Maddy safe and that it is too crazy for Maddy to be exposed to the outside world.
- "It would only be for half an hour. He could get decontaminated like Mr. Waterman-" (Page 72)
- "Are you crazy?"(Page 72)
- Two days later...
- Over the next few days, Maddy's persistent words waver Carla to the point where the Nurse is finally persuaded to allow a monitored visitation between Maddy and Olly. Before Olly is allowed to see Maddy, he has to fully decontaminate himself.
- Scrub well Olly. You need to fully decontaminate yourself before you see Maddy.
- I know, Carla. Thank you for letting me see her.
- 1 Hour Later...
- Carla breaks the news to Maddy that Olly is downstairs waiting, fully decontaminated. Maddy is filled with joy, but Carla has to remind the young girl that there can be no contact between the two teenagers.
- Olly is here. He is waiting for you in the sunroom, decontaminated. You have 20 minutes and no touching!
- Carla! Thank you Carla! I promise I won't tell mom. Thank you so much!
- Maddy builds up the courage to walk downstairs as her nerves begin to act up. As Maddy walks into the sunroom she is greeted by Olly while he climbs the stone walls of the room.
