- Thirty--the promise of a decade of loneliness, a thinning lost of single men to know, a thinning briefcase of enthusiasm, thinning hair. But there was Jordan beside me, who, unlike Daisy, was too wise ever to carry well-forgotten dreams from age to age.

- In this scene Tom exposes Gatsby for all the things he's done to get where he is today. Daisy is crying, upset, and horrified while Gatsby is shocked, knowing he lost this fight. Tom is in perfect composure, knowing he won and that he won't loose Daisy.
- It was a yellow car, big yellow car. New.------No, but the car passed me down the road, going faster'n forty. Going fifty, sixty.

- To Tom: Auto hit her. Ins'antly killed.----To *pale well dressed negro*: see the accident?

- To Nick: I ought to have dropped you in West Egg, Nick. There's nothing we can do to-night.To Nick: I'll telephone a taxi to take you home, and while you're waiting you and Jordan better go in the Kitchen and have them get you some supper- if you want any.
- In this scene it shows Tom, Jordan, and Nick in Tom's car together. Nick and Jordan are in the back together, awkwardly listen to Tom talking to basically himself in the front seat. Nick is thinking about his birthday and Jordan, basically the purpose of life and is sad that he is so lonesome for so long.

- To Nick: Won't you come in, Nick?
- To Tom:No thanks. But I'd be glad if you'd order me the taxi. I'll wait outside.---------------To Jordan: No thanks.
- In this scene Gatsby and Daisy are awkwardly in Gatsby's car after the whole interaction at the hotel. Daisy is driving while Gatsby is in the passenger seat. Daisy is not paying attention and driving very recklessly leading to her hitting Myrtle. Myrtle ran out in front of the car because she thought Tom was driving it, as he was earlier.
- Her name was Wilson. Her husband owns the garage. How the devil did it happen?Was Daisy driving?It ripped her open-
- Who was the Woman?Well, I tried to swing the wheel-yes...Well first Daisy turned away from the woman toward the other car, and hen she lost her nerve and turned back. The second me hand reached the wheel I felt shock- it must have killed her instantly.
- In this scene Nick and Jordan get pushed to the front of a large group surrounding Myrtle right after Tom pushes through to see the commotion. Tom is bent over Myrtle's dead body, confused, mad, and frustrated. Wilson and some man are talking further away while Michaelis and another man talk to the police officers.
- In this scene Tom, Jordan, and Nick arrive at Tom's house, Tom realizes he should have brought Jordan and Nick home so he offers a taxi and supper. Nick declines supper but excepts the taxi offer as he just want's to get away from all of them. Jordan tries to convince him to just go inside but he responds a cold no. So Tom and Jordan head inside leaving Nick in the Night alone.
- Lastly here Nick walks from the house to the driveway where Gatsby calls out to him from the bushes of Tom's yard while the only thing Nick can focus on is the luminosity of his pink suit. Nick asks what happens and Gatsby explains that Daisy was the one driving the car and he tried to stop it. Nick then asks what Gatsby is doing hiding in the bushes and Gatsby says he is watching out until Daisy falls asleep to see if he tries to bother her. At the end of the Chapter Nick says he walked away and left him standing there in the moonlight- watching over nothing..
