- A DAY IN THE SLUMA few things I want to know more about given scenario are:1. Availability of basic amenities for the people of slums. 2. What is the role of the local authorities in maintaining the cleanliness in the area.3. What about the schooling of kids means their primary education. 4. About the schools who are refusing the admission to good students thus depriving the students their basic rights and opportunity for them where they can uplift themselves and can lead a good happy and successful life. - ok, but first lets hear from the people from outside the slum of what they think about the slums and the people who live there..
- Hi everyone , today we will visit one of the biggest slums of Asia and will talk about the problems faced by them on the daily basis.
- What do you think about the ppl of Dharavi. Means how are they different from the ppl who live outside the slums.
- Well the ppl of slums are not well dressed, they are not educated. They are not hygienic. basic amenities are lacking for the ppl who lives in slum.
- Thanks for inviting us to your home. I want to ask you a few questions if its alright with you. 1. Do you get clean water and electricity all the time2. How much do you earn in a month?3. What types of diseases are common in the area and how frequently do you fall ill?4. Are you happy here?
- Your are welcome. Yes you can ask.1. No we do not get the clean water frequently. At times its like there is no water supply for even 4 days and at times it stinky also. No electricity also.2. I earn Rs 3000/ month. 3. We suffer from Cold, fever, Typhoid and Malaria quite often.4. Yes we are happy here, we are like a big community who help eachothers.
- What are challenges that the people of slum faces outside the slum? How people treat you all in office and other places? Do you want to move out of the slum?
- Hello maam, if a child get enrolled in school outside the slum then he is labeled as thief if it is known that the child lives in slum.2. If we apply for a job then we are rejected because in our address Dharavi is mentioned. 4. People from posh area think that we are illiterates, cheap low peoples. 5. No we do not want to move out we are happy here. This is our community.
- Here I want to share with all of you what all I learnt about the people of Dharavi.1. These people may be living in the slums but they try to keep their homes neat and clean. They welcome guests with open hearts in their homes.2. They are happy in their life and in their big community.3. As the people of the society we have to make some contributions also towards these people who trying very hard to live a good life. 4. Local authorities have to make sure their surroundings are neat and clean, no littering of waste, leakage should be treated immediately so that they also get an opportunity to live in a hygienic environment.5. Government should keep a tab on private schools and opportunity should be given to the good students .
