GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN: OUR LITTLE LACY
Ash passed a memorial on his way to the cemetery. As he always does, he stops to inspect and read the sign and looks around, trying to see if there’s anyone around. Not seeing anyone, he turns back to the sign, and in big letters, it reads: 'GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN: OUR LITTLE LACY.' The sign was decorated with roses and below there were stuffed animals resting against the tree where the sign was held.
She stopped right in front of Ash and exclaimed excitedly, 'I used to have a headband just like this!' She turned the headband in her hands and examined it carefully, lifting it up against the sunlight and nodding in approval. 'Yup,' she nodded. 'Just like this one.'”
He didn’t spot her immediately, so he walked down the path he came from; along the path that would lead him to the memorial. As he got closer, he once again saw the stuffed animals in the shape of a halo, but this time they were dancing around Emmy.
It was a beautiful wall. The strong, white marble sparkled in the sunlight and the bronze of each plaque contrasted it greatly. The colored glass windows above left their faces illuminated with colors. He read down the rows of plaques, mindlessly reading the names until one startled him so bad he stood back.
(pretend the plaques are bronze)
The mother took the headband from him with wide eyes and quickly alerted the father. He too stared in disbelief. 'She always wore this headband. How?' They both uttered, shocked.
The animals crowded her, lifting her up to the sky, and they danced on their way. Ash blinked against the harsh sunlight and then they were gone.
