- Ionia revolts agenst Persians. War begins in Ionia. Athens sends ships to support the revolt. Daris the Great defeats the revolt and vows to destroy Athens
- Athens vs. Xerxes
- 490 BCE Persian fleet with 25,000 men went across the Aegean and landed in Marathon. 10,000 Athenians waited for them there. Persians lost 6,000 men and Athens lost 200 men. Athenians won.
- Athens vs. Xerxes (part 2 on Water)
- Persians decided to attack defenseless Athens, the Athenians needed to worn them. They sent Pheidippides to bring news to Athens that they won.
- Delian League
- 480 BCE Darius the Great dies. Son Xerxes creates force to defeat the Athenians. Xerxes comes to narrow mountain pass, 7,000 Greeks + 300 Spartains block the way. Greeks stop Xerxes for 3 days.
- Athens abandons city and decides to fight at sea. Xerxes sets fire to Athens and sends war ships to canal where the Greeks are. Xerxes looses 1/3 of his fleet. 479 BCE Xerxes looses the battle.
- Delian League is a Greek city-state alliance to defeat the Persians.
