  • The Ghost of Christmas yet to come appears unto Scrooge, who is terrified. The spirit refuses to talk.
  • I see, I see. The case of this unhappy man might be my own.
  • We may sleep to-night with light hearts, Caroline.
  • The spirit leads a humbled Scrooge through London's busy streets, full of merchants selling their wares, before stopping near a group of three wealthy businessmen. They are discussing the death of an unpopular person.
  • Scrooge is then shown three people pawning goods they have stolen from the dead man’s house, including the shirt off the dead mans back.
  • My little, little child! My little child!’
  • Scrooge is horrified when he realizes that his life tends the way of the dead man. He recoils in terror when he finds himself transported back to a dark bedroom, where a shaft of light illuminates where a body lies, covered-up upon the bed. Scrooge reviles at the likeness of his own life to that of the corpse. He is too scared to look under the cover.
  • Scrooge asks if anyone is sad about the death of this man. He is shown a couple rejoicing as their debt has been transferred.
  • The Spirit takes him to the Cratchits house where they are grieving the death of Tiny Tim. Bob is seen to break down.
