  • A 36-year-old male is in the waiting room and he is very anxious about his CT scan examination and results.
  • When the radiographer calls the patient from the waiting area and observes that they are showing signs of stress. To assure the patient that they are in good hands and that everything will work out, it is important to maintain your composure and confidence.
  • Inquire about the patient's personal information before explaining the procedure to them to relieve their anxiety because you are aware of it. Give your patient permission to take off their clothes and change into the hospital gown. Try your best to respond to any questions they may have; if you are unable to, seek another radiographer you believe may be able to help.
  • Take the patient to the x ray room to confirm their personal details and allow them to ask any questions.
  • The patient should be informed that while the examination is taking place, he must remain quite still on the x-ray table and that it is not painful—rather, it is similar to taking a picture. Inform him that while the machine will move and make noise, this is quite normal. Also let the patient know that he shouldn't try to follow you because you won't be standing next to him during the assessment.
  • Take the patient to the X-Ray Table and demonstrate what will be happening
