- Reconstruction is a period where America healed from the losses during the civil war. In this book, you will be learning about 3 important amendments that changed the course of our history.
- The 15th amendment gave black MEN the right to vote. This means that all men in the nation had the right to vote. All of the women in our nation will not get the right to vote until the 1900's.
- You might be wondering what the word "amendment" means. An amendment is a law in the constitution that is lawful and benefiting to the people of America. Now since you know what an amendment is, let's take a look at the 13,14, and 15 amendments
- The 13th amendment gave African Americans freedom from slavery. This meant that all the black slaves didn't have to be servants to anyone anymore.
- I love not having to do hard jobs everyday. Now I can spend quality time with my family!
- I love seeing my kids happy and I love spending time with them rather than cleaning dirty dishes everyday

- The 14th amendment granted citizenship to all African Americans that were born in the United States. This meant that blacks now have all the rights that white people did.(or that's what should've happened)
- I love that I have the same rights as people that have lighter skin!
- We have so much more freedom now because of the amendments.
- This right gives us representation in the government!
- I love being able to vote for who I want to represent my beliefs in the government
