In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. On the first day, God said, Let there be light, and there was light. And God separated the light from the darkness; and God called the light day, and the darkness night.
On the second day of creation God said Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, separating them one from another. And God called the firmament heavens.
On the third day God said: Let the earth bring forth vegetation, herbs yielding seed, and fruit trees yielding fruit, of their kind, with their seed in them, upon the earth.
On the fourth day God made the two great lights, the greater light and the lesser light. And God set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light upon the earth, and to rule in the day and in the night, and to divide the light from the darkness.
On the fifth day God created the living creatures, and birds that fly above the earth, in the open expanse of the heavens. He created the great sea monsters, and every living thing that moves, which the waters brought forth after their kind, and every winged bird after its kind.
Then God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
