PARLIAMENT ANGRY WITH JAMES II

English Bill of Rights

WE DON'T LIKE YOU ANYMORE!!!!!!

In 1687, James II made The Royal Declaration of Indulgence that suspended all punishments against Protestants . Parliament said it was fake and not fair and James II banned them from meeting again till they agreed that they would never question his "divine right" again. Then in 1688, he had a son. This was a last straw for Parliament so they went to William III, Mary's husband

MARY

He fathered his first child, a daughter named Mary. Who later, in 1677, married William III, the Prince of Orange. Her husband and her will later mean a lot to the country of England.

THE GLORIOUS REVOLUTION

In 1688, James II had his first son. This terrified Parliament that England would become a Catholic Dynasty. Parliament wrote to William, Mary's husband, and asked him to intervene. in November, William launched an attack and the country turned on James. Within a month, James fled England and Parliament agreed to make William and Mary joint ruler of the throne.

ENGLISH BILL OF RIGHTS

William and Mary went on to sign a historical document, the English Bill of Rights just 3 months after taking the throne. This bill gave Parliament more control over the monarchy by guaranteeing Parliament's right to regular meetings, freedom of speech, guaranteed that citizens cannot be subjected to cruel or unusual punishment, and reestablish that only Parliament can tax the English people
