- Mountain Men were adventurers who lived off their own skills. In the westward expanison these men made forts and made ways to go for the settlers to Oregon
- Mexican-American War
- This will be the perfect place for the Salt Lake City Settlement.
- Pioneers set to leave to be free for themselves. Most people followed the Oregon trial west. They fought through death of people in the group often caused by diseases. The trial helps a lot of people move west to be free and set land west.
- Mormons in Utah
- Americans thought their government and culture was better then others. They thought it was a destiny given by god. This helped people and helped them believe they could make it to the end
- California Gold Rush
- The annexation of Texas was upset that Mexico still wanted control of their land, the Americans fought for more land which took a year and a half. They gained California, New Mexico, and Arizona out of the war.
- This is now apart of the USA territiry now.
- MMormons went threw a lot of persecution for what the thought while in the east and they decided to find a place to make a settlement in Utah. Thousand of Mormon people built a settlement that attracted many western Americans.
- Gold was found in 1848 in California which influenced a lot of people to move to California to make a lot of money. Many people didn't become rich but they made a settlement in California but just 2 years later it became a state.
