  • Sickle Cell Disease is a group of inherited red blood cell disorders. Healthy red blood cells are round, flexible, and carry oxygen to all parts of the body. They last 120 days in the body. Sickle cells become stiff, sticky, and are shaped like bananas. This causes trouble with travel through blood vessels. They last 20-30 days in the body.

  • Sickle Cell Disease is passed down from both parents. There are many different types which you could pass on too, if you were to have children.
