- Introduction:
- At Nagrebcan, the day had just started. Eventually, the sun rises on the summit of the Katayaghan hills, but nobody was there yet. The different animal sounds, such as that of roosters and other creatures, that totally awakened the bario. Breakfast was being cooked by Nana Elang for her family. And her elderson began to play with the puppies when he first saw them.
- Exposition
- It was early in the morning in Nagrebcan, and people were already at work as usual. Baldo's mother asks him to go to their neighbor and grab some live coals. But a simple misunderstanding soon changed a really excellent morning into a bad one. The disagreement between Baldo and Ambo, which resulted in their fight, was centered on the helpless puppy. One of the puppies started to howl loudly as they stumbled away, trying to get away from them.

- Conflict:
- Ambo wanted to play with the one and only black-spotted puppy that Baldo was playing with. But Baldo prohibited him from touching it. Baldo was concerned that Ambo would mistreat the puppy because he was too young even peel a banana before eating it. Baldo became upset as Ambo tried to steal the puppy away. After pushing Ambo, Baldo yelled threats and curses his brother into the fight.

- Baldo refused, so they started fighting. The puppy was accidentally bit Ambo when they were arguing. Tang Ciaco, who saw the incident, at first thought the dog had gone insane. Baldo and Ambo were both frightened to even witness his father holding firewood. The poor dog was beaten by Tang Ciaco until it was completely dead.

- Tang Ciaco gave Nana Elang a serious look as he left the room to grab some firewood. Baldo begged him to stop, but he continued to beat the boy until he fell to the ground. When the puppy did not move when he kicked it to see if it was dead, he returned to the dog and threw it away. Ambo rushed to her mother while Baldo sobbed. Nana Elang rushed to the boy who had fallen and lifted him up.
