- The first conflict of the book was that Mibs was having trouble understanding and controlling her savvy. According to page 59 of the book, "Nothing about what was happening felt right. What had happened to my savvy?" Mibs thought she knew what her savvy was, but she was wrong.

- The second conflict of the book was that Mibs was trying to get to Poppa. On page 63, it says "I had to find Poppa and I had to use my savvy to wake him up." Poppa was in the Salina Hope Hospital.
- Definitely get on bus if you are the main character of a book and are trying to get to the Salina Hospital
- The third conflict was that the kids had to wait for Lester to finish his orders before they could go to Salina. According to the book, ""Tomorrow?" we all shouted. "Tomorrow?" "That's too long!" I cried." Mibs doesn't want Lester to lose his job, but she also wants to see Poppa.

- The result of the first conflict was that she thought she could wake things up, but found out what her savvy really was. On page 165, Fish said "You can hear what I'm thinking?" Mibs discovered at the diner that she could actually read minds when they had ink on them.
- The effect of the second conflict was that Mibs snuck onto the pink bus that delivered bibles. On page 70, Mibs said "I'm going to Salina Hope. I'm going to Kansas and I'm going to find Poppa." This result resulted in a third conflict.
- The result of the final conflict was that Mibs had to ride all the way through the stops and had to help Lester deliver. This was more of a conflict that actually brought the story together. On page 244, "But he promised he'll get us down to the hospital soon- a few hours is all."
