  • He was born to Vincenzo Galileo and Giuliano Galileo. They had to move 1574 to Florence and that is where Galileo started his formal educated.
  • Galileo was born on February 15 1564 and was one of six children .He was born in Pisa in the Duchy of Florence Italy.
  • Fascinating!
  • In 1583 Galileo Entered the university of Pisa to study medicine.
  • While at Pisa, Galileo was exposed to the Aristotelian view of the world, then leading scientific authority.
  • Armed with prodigious , intelligence, and drive he became fascinated with subjects, mainly mathematics and physics.
  • Galileo then left the school in 1583 before getting his degree he couldn’t finish because of financial problems.
  • After Galileo left the university he continued to study mathematics and go himself with some teaching positions

  • During this time for him he began a 2 decade study on objects in motion and he published The Little Balance. This book was about describing hydrostatic principles of weighing small quantities this gave him some fame.
  • His manuscript Du Motu a departure from Aristotelian views about motion and falling objects. Galileo developed an arrogance about his work and this left him isolated from his colleagues
  • With Galileos time at the Pisa he conducted his fable experiments with falling objects and produced his manuscript.
  • In July of 1609 Galileo learned about a simple telescope. He soon later developed one of his own. In August 1609 he demonstrated it to some vets and merchants who saw its value for navigation and spotting ships
  • Galileo pushed himself to make a better telescope he made a decision to use his telescope to discover the universe. Galileo first observed the moon proving that it rotated around the sun. He also saw that Venus had phases like the moon. He then proved that the earth was not the center of universe and that the sun was.
