The Chorus introduces two feuding Verona families,the Capulets and the Montagues. On a hot summer day, the young men of each faction fight until the Prince of Verona intervenes and threatens to expel them. Soon after, the patriarch of the Capulet family organizes a feast.
The families of the Montagues and the Capulets are feuding. Allof the plot's other issues stem from this disagreement, and the two lovers must keep their love hidden while fighting the larger forces at work against them.
