  • From 1920 - 1921, 800,000 immigrants came to America to escape war torn Europe, many from southern and eastern Europe. "One-hundred-percent Americans" were worried that the country would be flooded by this new tide of immigrants, who weren't as good as Natural born Americans or northern Europeans.
  • Restricted number of immigrants from a country to 3% of total people from that country living in US in 1910
  • Mexican migrants in particular have been consistent targets of nativism, immigration restrictions, and deportations. The 1920s was a time of cultural and political change. The dynamic chaos was too much for some people, and they rejected foreign influence in their own ways, often through violence.
  • Cut the quotas for foreigners from 3% to 2%.
  • The KKK increased its membership drastically, five million people in the United State in the 1920s and they would have rallies and parades quite often and in Washington DC have thousands of KKK marchers.
  • Emergency Quota Act of 1921 established the nation's first numerical limits on the number of immigrants who could enter the United States.
  • Three years later The immigration Act of 1924 passed ( also know as the National Origins Act ) significantly decreased the number of immigrants who could enter the country 164,687. The immigration Act did not completely stop the flow of immigrants coming into the U.S, but instead merely reduced the number considerably. With the passage off these two acts, unrestricted immigration is now over.
