- Many take hearing for granted and don’t give it a second thought because they don’t realize how much their ears do for them. The ability to hear allows a person to experience, communicate, learn, and enjoy the world around them. - Yes, that is normal. Ears detect most sounds, but they have limits.
- Humans can hear sound with frequencies as low as 20 Hz and up to 20,000 Hz, but by middle age our upper pitch range can drop lower. It means that as you get older you become less able to hear high frequencies. Also, sometimes, when a sound exceeds a certain frequency level, it registers only as ringing or buzzing in our ears.
