- In American history occurred a Reconstruction Era with a Civil War that lasted until 1877. Abraham Lincoln and Andrew Johnson were politicians of that time. Lincoln was the president while Johnson was the vice president. They both had similar Reconstruction plans.
- Mrs. Johnson, our Reconstruction plans are similar of each other. So, can we work together?
- For sure Mrs. Lincoln. We can work together in political plans and make our best.
- Lincoln and Johnson wanted to end slavery and preserve the union. They both wanted a quick readmission for the South, to allow Southerners to keep their property and regain their political rights. So, like this they could protect the rights of freedom.
- We need to stop the slavery and make people have their rights.
- We need to be paid in cash.
- During the Reconstruction Era, something called partnership happened. It was a system in which poor farmers had access to small plots of land. But these farmers received a portion of the harvest income, called a share, rather than being paid in cash. Increasingly, farmers became dependent on local traders for credit. There often follows a cycle of debt until economic independence.
