Housing problem in America

Texto del Guión Gráfico

  • As addressed by our own leaders: "The housing crisis has been addressed by our very own United Nations who've made it a human right for all to live somewhere with security, peacefulness and dignity"
  • The housing crisis is also hitting members of the African American community very hard to.
  • Evidence shows that the "segregation tax" cost nearly $156 billion just because a community is deemed African American. This shows the racism/housing effect vividly
  • The big question that will continually be the vocal point for this discussion is "why are prices so high for housing".
  • The simple answer would be the supply and demand is increasing, when the economy is doing well prices go up, and interest rates being low cause price to rises, but why is it that it seems to be more disproportional towards the minority and not equal?
  • Evidence found that racial and ethnic minorities are presented with less options as those of the majority, same sex couples and transgender people have been continually discriminated against for the past 15 years, families with 2 or more children have been overlooked because one questions their financial capability, and people with disabilities are getting less information and getting shown less
  • Creating affordable housing for all not only helps the individuals with regards to their living, but also improves our environments health, homelessness issue, and safety within our neighborhoods
  • Our evidence states, "consider the lack of housing options in cities across the country where there is a significant imbalance between jobs and housing, particularly affordable housing near transit options. This imbalance between jobs and housing, particularly in urban areas near public transportation, prevents people from living near their place of employment.
  • As a community we must realize that the housing crisis affects people living and low income communities as well as minorities the most. We must continue to add laws and keep them such as the Affordable Housing Act
  • We can't be considered the land of equal opportunity and freedom if we don't value every citizens fundamental right to life. Solving the issue that the Housing Problem present would instantly benefit other global social justice issues. We must continue to ask and fight for those whose voice is not given an equal opportunity as the rest. Affordable housing is a major Social justice issue
