- Jefferson planned a expedition to explore a bunch of territory, as known as The Voyage Of Discovery. And began assembling a team of explorers also known as the Corps. (KOR) of Discovery.
- "Well, we should probably map out our plan and where we're going to go."
- In the spring of 1804, Lewis, Clark, and other men left St. Louis Missouri by traveling in a boat. They were travelling westward through what is now known as Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota.
- Well, we should probably get ready to go back home soon.
- In November they reached Knife River Village in North Dakota. There they met a Shoshone Native American Woman named Sacagawea. translating the language of the near by tribes for Lewis and Clark's men.

- After meeting Sacagawea and her husband the corps traveled west from North Dakota, traveling miles and miles on foot, and by boat 15 miles a day.
- Lewis and Clark's group mapped out unseen land, rivers, and mountains. They then brought back journals filled with details about Native American tribes and scientific facts about plants and animals that they have never seen before.
- After approximately 2 long years on traveling, the Corps were able to start making their way back toward East in March of 1806. Then, after returning Sacagawea and her husband in North Dakota, the rest of them arrived back in Missouri in late September.
