  • In a lab in 18th century Geneva, Switzerland, Dr. Frankenstein is fascinated about overcoming death. He creates a monster by bringing a dead person to life. Dr. Frankenstein realizes that the monster isn't very intelligent, so he rejects his creation. This makes the monster very angry, which contributes to the conflict of the story.
  • Falling Action
  • The monster, who was abandoned by his creator, goes on a destructive rampage all throughout central Europe, killing and demolishing anything in his path. This causes all the events of the story, and causes problems for many people.
  • Resolution
  • Dr. Frankenstein decides to take responsibility for his creation, and he goes out to find the monster. The monster finds Frankenstein in the woods, and he explains to Dr. Frankenstein that he is lonely. The monster asks Dr. Frankenstein to create him a friend, but Dr. Frankenstein refuses. Dr. Frankenstein is given a chance to fix everything, but he says no. So, the story continues because of this reaction.
  • Dr. Frankenstein follows the monster all the way to the arctic, where he becomes delirious from the low temperature and the tiredness. The monster eventually finds Dr. Frankenstein in this condition. This helps the resolution take place and overall helps the story make sense.
  • As Dr. Frankenstein is delirious, the monster realizes his actions and apologizes to Dr. Frankenstein for all he has done. The monster appreciates his creator and tells Dr. Frankenstein that he will leave him alone. This ends the story and solves the conflict. The theme of the story is that taking responsibility has rewards.
