  • Thank you so much Dr.lake
  • the baby looks healthy Mrs and Mrs Lopez
  • Hey doc I was wondering how does a baby develop
  • Well they go though a cell cycle which is a step by step process that allows the cells to grow and divide and we all have a total of 46 chromosomes 23 from mom and 23 from dad
  • And also has five different phases interphase, prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase.
  • The first stage of interphase is called the G1 stage. The “G” stands for “growth”because the cell will increase in size during this stage, and the reason why the cell grows is because it's getting ready for mitosis.
  • The purpose of mitosis is when one cell spilts into two cells.
  • The second stage of interphase is calledthe S stage. The “S” stands for “synthesis”.The word synthesis means “to make.”During the S stage the cellmakes extra amounts of dna like a factory overmaking a product
  • During this proscess the dna helixis is split into two new pieces of dna the eventually that piece will spilt into two more pieces making more dna.
  • Then the third stage of interphase is G2. The same thing as G1 the "g" means growth, so that means the cell will grow in size and become larger. This is the final preprations made by the cell before it starts mitosis
  • Now that the cell is ready for mitosis it can begin. Remember that the purpose of mitosis is to split one cell into two cells that is called prophase. the first stage
  • the process starts with cell’s DNA in a long, loose form called chromatin. The loose chromatin begins to coil and tighten into movable structures called chromosomes.
  • For an analogy think about packing for vacation and your storing all of the clothing in your suit case when cells divide, they will package their DNA into easily movablepackages called chromosomes. During prophase, human DNA compacks 46 moveable chromosomes.
  • Is there another stage after prophase?
  • Yes there is and I can explain this
  • This new stage is called meta phase In the last stage spindle fibers were created.Spindle fibers are threads of protein that grow from organelles calledcentrioles. during the phase the fibers will attach themselvces to centreomere
  • chromtids
  • Once the spindle fibers attach to the chromosomes, the spindle fibers engage in “tug-of-war” contest.the spindle fibers pull and tug on the chromosomes until all chromosomes are aligned in the middle of the cell, called the equator.
  • alined in the middle
  • the next stage is anaphase in the stage the chromosomes were pulled to the center of the cell by the spindle fibers. In human cells, there will be 46 chromosomes aligned along the cell’s equator.
  • yes correct now that they are lined in the middle during anaphase they will be ripped apart
  • Now that anaphase is complete the cell will enter its final stage called telophase remeber when I said that mitosis splits one cell into two
  • Yes and one key moment of this phase is when it returns back to the nucleus the nucleus jod is to protect the dna. mitois is almost finished the nucleus will reform in order to protect the DNA of thetwo cells. Eventually, the cell will split in half and each cell will contain one nucleus.
  • And another major event that happens is when the cytoplasm divides that process is called cytokinese
  • One of the final events of telophase is the return of DNA back into the loose strandscalled chromatin. If you recall during anaphase, 46 chromatids were pulled to the leftof the cell. Those 46 chromatids will unwind into46 loose strands of chromatin. this the final stage of the cell cycle
